Conversational AI: What's Your Move?

A polished editorial-style hero image of Denise Reed seated comfortably in the front passenger seat of a dynamic Waymo-style self-driving car, with silver-gray hair, glasses, a warm confident smile, brass steampunk details, and bold hot-pink accents conveying conversational AI and professional authority

A Wells Fargo longtime customer walked in to find his branch manager’s office empty.

His manager wasn't fired. He wasn't being let go. Wells Fargo had simply decided that branch managers no longer needed a permanent home base. They float now, drifting from branch to branch without a desk, without an office, without the stagnant infrastructure that used to signal stability and seniority.

The tellers? Cut in half, because the machines are coming. The ones where you talk to a teller on a screen. The tellers who remain are only there for conflict resolution.

Who would have thought banking was becoming a Zoom call in a bank branch office?

This story came from a round-robin conversation I was part of at Project Voice 2026, the world’s premier conversational AI conference, right here in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The moment Anthony Webb shared this, we all started thinking about other ways we had experienced this very thing.

Everyone in that conversation knew exactly what it meant.

JAPOV S3 E7

This is Part 2 of my Project Voice 2026 round-robin recorded conversation.

If you haven't watched Part 1 yet, go back and start with Season 3, Episode 6: “Know the Rules to Bend Them”. Then come back here.

In this episode, I’m walking through four moments from that full conversation that I cannot stop thinking about.

Not because they are alarming.

Because they are clarifying.

And clarity is exactly what smart professionals need right now.

What Is AI Actually Doing to Professional Careers?

Let’s talk numbers first, because feelings don’t change facts.

Right now, twelve percent of the labor force is already being done by AI. In five to six years, the projection is that ninety percent of repeatable processes could be automated.

Not ninety percent of jobs.

Ninety percent of the tasks that make up those jobs.

You know the predictable, mappable, modelable work that happens the same way every time or does not require human input to make a decision.

That distinction matters enormously.

The version of your career that relies entirely on repeatable process is already being disrupted.

The version of your career that relies on your relationships, your judgment, your point of view, and your years of knowing how your clients actually think is irreplaceable.

But only if people know about it.

Only if you are showing up consistently and building what I call the brand trust bridge before the displacement reaches your desk.

The Waymo Lesson Nobody Is Talking About

Here is the other side of the Wells Fargo story. It is the one that gives me the most hope.

A refined autonomous vehicle moving through a city at dusk, symbolizing curiosity and early adoption

When Waymo first hit the streets of Atlanta, nobody was getting in that car.

“I am NOT getting in a car without a human driver.”

That was the universal reaction.

Now? Riders prefer it.

Humans adapt faster than they think they will. Every single time.

The people who got in the Waymo first were not reckless. They were curious. They were willing to try something that felt uncomfortable because they could see the experience was improving.

By the time everyone else decided it was safe, the early adopters had already logged the miles, built the comfort, and moved on to the next thing.

That is exactly the position you want to be in right now with AI.

You want to become the answer that someone is looking for.

Not by racing to become a technologist. Not by abandoning everything that makes you excellent at your work.

Get curious.

Get in the car.

Build your library of published content in whatever form resonates with you: a blog, a podcast, a video channel, and the list goes on.

What Smart Professionals Are Already Building

In our round-robin conversation, Anthony Webb: comedian, Cisco AI Technical Practitioner, and AI consultant: described what he is building right now.

It is an AI agent that reaches out to comedy venues, answers emails, negotiates price points, checks his calendar, and handles the entire booking process until it reaches a decision that requires a human.

Then, and only then, it hands off the contact to Anthony.

Now replace comedy venues with client outreach.

Replace booking negotiations with initial consultations.

Replace Anthony’s calendar with yours.

What are the repeatable tasks in your business that eat your time but do not require your judgment once the process is set up?

The follow-up emails.

The scheduling.

The first-touch conversations that happen before a real relationship begins.

What if AI handled all of that so that by the time a human conversation happened, it was only the conversation that mattered?

Clockwork mechanisms routing business workflows toward a human executive decision

This is The Human Authority Method™ in action.

  • Human: First, know thyself.
  • Authority: Share what you uniquely know.
  • Method: Follow the process toward improvement.

AI handles the repeatable process.

You show up for the relationship.

That is not a threat to your career. That is a competitive advantage, if you build it before everyone else does.

This is the secret that few people realize.

Why the Brand Trust Bridge Cannot Wait

Gary Vaynerchuk’s VaynerX is projected to generate more than three hundred million dollars in annual revenue. It is built on the back of content, consulting, and his own point of view, shared consistently over decades.

Alex and Leila Hormozi built a two hundred and fifty million dollar portfolio for Acquisition.com in four years. They broke a world record for book sales because millions of people already trusted them before those people ever did a dollar of business with them.

They shared their business track record in public, out loud, and before anyone asked them to.

They are not the only ones.

The professionals who are winning right now are not necessarily the ones who learned the most AI platforms. They are the ones using AI to amplify their voice, expertise, and brand into the market consistently, before displacement reaches their desk.

A sophisticated brass-and-stone bridge representing trust, storytelling, and professional authority

The brand trust bridge you start building today reaches more people before the competition catches up.

The content you create today is indexed, shared, and working as a library for who you are and how you serve your clients while everyone else is still deciding whether to start.

“This Is the Worst It’s Going to Be”

Near the end of our conversation, Anthony Webb said something I have not stopped thinking about.

He looked at all of us and said:

“This is the worst it’s going to be.”

He was not talking about despair.

He was talking about the floor.

Right now: today, this moment: is as slow, as limited, and as behind as this technology is ever going to be. The AI tools available to you right now are the least capable they will ever be.

Everything from here goes up.

Hyper-exponentially, as Clyde Harris of Nu Fangled TV put it.

That trajectory is going to force us to be more creative, more individualistic, and more human than we have ever been before.

Clyde also told us he has become at least three times smarter since September by collaborating with AI.

Three times.

In just months.

That is not a threat.

That is an opportunity.

Your Three Moves This Week

Move One: Stop waiting to feel ready.

Pick one AI tool. Spend one hour with it this week.

Not to become an expert.

Just to get in the car.

Move Two: Identify one repeatable process.

Find out if AI can handle it or improve it.

Just one.

That is one more hour you get back to do the work only you can do.

Move Three: Start building your brand trust bridge.

Create one piece of content.

Share one point of view.

Tell one story about why your clients choose you, your brand, or your service over anyone else.

The floor: the baseline: is now.

Everything from here speeds up and gets better.

The Project Voice 2026 Series Continues

This series is not done.

I’m releasing the full round-robin conversation, too. Coming up, I sit down one-on-one with Bradley Metrock, the man who built Project Voice into a decade-long institution and watched conversational AI grow from a niche conversation into a global movement.

You do not want to miss these conversations.

In the meantime, if today sparked something for you, share it. Tag someone who needs to hear it.

The professionals who thrive in the next five years are the ones having these conversations right now.
